Dr. Fagien is an internationally recognized world authority in aesthetic eyelid surgery and cosmetic injectable treatments and he has been featured in Vogue, Allure, New Beauty, The New York Times, and W magazine. He completed his medical training at the University of Florida and his fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.
He has authored over 350 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, served on the editorial board of the Journal of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and penned his own best-selling textbook on Cosmetic Oculoplastic Surgery.
Growing up in South Florida, Dr. Fagien chose to return after his extensive specialty training in 1988. Dr. Fagien has over 30 years of experience and he has focused his practice exclusively on aesthetic eyelid surgery and cosmetic injectable treatments. Dr. Fagien has made more than 1,500 presentations about his innovations, techniques and best practices to surgeons around the globe. He pioneered teaching and instructional courses at the major society meetings including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons when injectable agents were first introduced to the US. His innovations have changed the course of aesthetic surgery and have become reference materials for surgeons around the world.

Dr. Fagien majored in Chemistry at the University of Florida. He was elected President of the Pre-medical honor society, Alpha Epsilon Delta during his undergraduate years. He earned his medical degree (M.D.) and completed residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Florida which at the time was one of the top rated and competitive residency training programs in the world. Dr. Fagien’s unique style as an effective and innovative educator of his peers during his residency training program was noticed by all of the faculty, particularly the program chairman and one of Dr. Fagien’s heroes, Dr. Mel Rubin, who publicly stated that he was one of the best residents that he had ever trained and encouraged him to consider oculoplastic surgery as his chosen sub-specialty.
Following residency, Dr. Fagien was selected for fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the highly sought and competitive University of Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary under the mentorship of Dr. Allen Putterman, one of the world pioneers in aesthetic eyelid surgery. Dr. Fagien and Dr. Putterman have remained close friends after his training and Dr. Putterman proudly introduced Dr. Fagien when he received the Henry Baylis Cosmetic Surgery Award for his contributions to the field of cosmetic oculoplastic surgery.
Dr. Fagien is a Diplomate of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Fagien is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
